Get out your leather jacket, pull on your bobby socks, and take a trip to the fabulous ‘50s with Center Stage’s production of the original rock ‘n’ roll high school musical, “Grease!” Center Stage is presenting two weekends of performances: 7 p.m. March 10 & 11 and 2 p.m. March 12; and 7 p.m. March 16-18 and 2 p.m. March 19; all at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the Three Rivers Campus in Poplar Bluff.

Made famous by the movie with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, “Grease the Musical” follows bad-boy greaser Danny, good-girl Sandy, and the rest of the Thunderbirds and Pink Ladies as they navigate school life and budding romance in the 1950s!

Danny and Sandy fall for each other during a carefree summer fling, but when the school year begins, Danny is torn between his feelings for good-girl Sandy and his image with the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies.

It’s the original high-school musical, featuring all the unforgettable songs from the hit movie, including “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightnin’” and many more.

“’Grease’ is one of the most beloved musicals ever written, in my opinion. It’s energetic, it’s colorful, the songs will stick in your head for days,” said Tim Thompson, the show’s director and Director of the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. “We have such a great bunch of singers and actors in the region, and they’ve really brought the show to life.”

“What I love about this show is that there is a little bit of everything,” Thompson added. “You have romance, comedy, and drama. It really does have something for everyone. It’s something you can bring the whole family to.”
