On 01-24-15 at approximately 11:15 am, a female victim came to the Poplar Bluff Police Department to report Jewayne Shaw (her boyfriend) assaulted her and held her against her will, at gunpoint, in their residence in the 900 block of Cherry st overnight.  The victim told Officers when Shaw fell asleep she fled the residence and came to the Police Department.

The victim added that Shaw threatened to kill her if she went to the police; and threatened to kill the police if they tried to arrest him.

Officer Gerber responded to the scene, but found Jewayne Shaw’s vehicle was not at the residence.   As Officer Gerber secured the scene, Shaw’s vehicle returned.  Upon seeing the patrol unit, Shaw fled the scene.

Officer Gerber pursued Shaw along secondary streets.  As Shaw reached the West Vine st / South Westwood Blvd intersection he failed to stop; and continued into cross traffic at a high rate of speed.  Shaw’s vehicle struck two other vehicles before it struck a concrete retaining wall on the Northwest corner of West Vine st at North Westwood Blvd.

Jewayne Shaw and his passenger were transported from the scene by EMS for treatment of injuries.  No other serious injuries were reported.

A probable cause affidavit was prepared and submitted to the Butler Count Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for charges of Felonious Restraint, Assault 2nd degree, Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Resisting Arrest (Felony), and numerous traffic offenses; with a request for no bond.
