Three Rivers Center at Kennett to Hold LPN Information Night

Oct 15, 2014

Kennett –  Three Rivers College will hold an Information Night for its Licensed Practical Nursing program at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6 at its Center at Kennett, located at 1002 Great West Drive.

The Information Night will give prospective students the chance to apply for the college’s LPN program in Kennett, and cover the requirements for entry into the program and financial aid opportunities.

“The medical profession is one of the fastest-growing career fields out there, even in a challenging economy. The state of Missouri alone will need an additional 7,800 Licensed Practical Nurses by the year 2018,” said Paulette Alexander, Interim Department Chair of Nursing and Allied Health program. “We consistently have graduates from our LPN program get hired straight out of the classes, with average salaries of over $30,000 per year.”

Three Rivers’ LPN program is a 65-credit-hour, one-year course of study that includes pediatric and geriatric components in addition to basic, hands-on skills instruction. The program prepares graduates for the NCLEX-PN certification test. No prior academic experience is required to enter the program.

While the LPN program was previously located at the Career/Technical Centers in Kennett and Hayti, the college has consolidated both cohorts into the new location of the Center at Kennett at 1002 Great West Drive. The new facility possesses upgraded science labs, as well as dedicated classroom space for the college’s Allied Health and Nursing programs.

Three Rivers College is committed to contributing to the quality of life in Southeast Missouri with quality, affordable higher education opportunities and community services that support and encourage the economic, civic, and cultural vitality of the region.
