VOTING: PB Citizens To Pay $144 Per Year For Sewer Tax!
According to Bill Bach, Municipal Utilities General Manager, the average utility bill will be increased from $16.34 to $28.44 if the City of Poplar Bluff votes YES to the Sewer Bond this November.
That is a 75% (SEVENTY FIVE PERCENT!!!) increase every month!!!! That’s $2900 each over the term of the bond!
And why do we need these sewer improvements?
The actual ballot language is posted in full at the bottom of this post, but from what I gather we are being asked to vote on is:
Shall the City raise sewer rates by 75%?
If this SEWER BOND passes on November 6th, PB Citizens will have to spend, on average, $144 EVERY YEAR to dispose of their POOP!
A facebook page has been set up for you to friend and help get the word out: http://www.facebook.com/voteno.sewerballot
Shall the City of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, issue its combined waterworks and sewerage system revenue bonds in the amount of $20,000,000.00 for the purpose of extending and improving the City’s combined waterworks and sewerage system, the cost of operation and maintenance of said combined waterworks and sewerage system and the principal of and interest on said revenue bonds to be payable solely from the revenues derived by the City from the operation of its combined waterworks and sewerage system, including all future improvements and extensions thereto?
