Wally's Park Road Bar & Grill: Real Cajun. Real Good!
Wally’s Park Road Bar & Grill is a very short drive from anywhere in our neck of the woods and the high quality of Wally’s Cajun cuisine is well worth the trip. My family and our friends dined there just this week filling up a big table with kids and teens. Bev, our friendly server, described the items on the menu that featured FRESH seafood driven in from Louisiana by Wally himself.
Our first course was several trays of fresh boiled crawfish which everyone dove into and devoured quickly. My husband ordered a platter of oysters on the half shell which were fresh and delicious. Then came the Shrimp Poppers with Jalapeno and Cream Cheese which were simply mouthwatering and delectable.
Our main course choices included Seafood Etouffee, Seafood Pasta, Fried Shrimp with Cajun Fries, Boiled Shrimp Platter and Grilled Chicken. Wally’s Crab Cakes slathered in his special seafood sauce were THE best we’d ever eaten! Each entree hit it out of the park in freshness, flavor and reasonable price.
After dinner, the younger crowd headed out to the large parking lot to throw a football around and work off some of their dinner while we parents lingered enjoying good conversation over cold beverages. The atmosphere at Wally’s Park Road Bar & Grill is down home, casual, even hole-in-the-wall, that helps you settle down and relax after a long day at work.
Wally is a native of Louisiana and a retired commercial fisherman. He stopped by to visit with us and said that he discovered the beauty of our region when he came up to help a friend in Fredricktown run his restaurant. When this current property became available six years ago, Wally seized on the opportunity to open a restaurant that features his beloved Southern foodie roots. What a stroke of good fortune for the entire Southeast Missouri area to have such a high quality option that the whole family can enjoy.
Along with the fabulous, fresh seafood choices mentioned above, Wally’s also serves crab legs, stuffed lobster, scallops, gator, homemade boudin, the best choice-cut steaks, burgers, sandwiches, quail, duck and more. Wally makes his own rich sauces and batters and homemade cheesecake to top everything off — IF you find you have room after what you just devoured!
The restaurant is located near Patterson, Missouri, on the road to Sam A. Baker Park, only 10 minutes from Greenville and 30 minutes from places like Poplar Bluff, Ellsinore and Fredericktown. Wally’s is open seven days a week: Sunday through Thursday from noon – 9pm. Friday and Saturday from noon – 1:30am. Reservations are recommended for parties of six or more.
DIRECTIONS: From Hwy 67 just 2 miles north of Greenville, take 34 West toward Piedmont for 4.3 miles. Turn right on State Hwy 143 and Wally’s will be on your left in less than a mile.
Make a plan to take the family or a group of your friends to Wally’s Park Road Bar & Grill – Real Cajun, Real Good!
I agree! Great time and great food!
