Huge Music Weekend in Poplar Bluff!
It’s going to be a big weekend for Poplar Bluff, with all kinds of music-centered activities occurring as Music On Main takes center stage in downtown Poplar Bluff on Saturday.
But even before Saturday, the weekend will get started with a Night of Jazz for Poplar Bluff’s new Black River Public Radio Station, beginning at 7 p.m.
The event will be held at downtown’s Black River Gallery Ballroom. Tickets are just $25 and will feature food from local restauranteurs, beverages from Luecke Distributors, and most importantly, jazz from the Black River Jazz Orchestra, which will feature area musicians including Dan Jackson, Ryan Humphrey, Pete Parysek, and jazz vocalist Judy Richardson-Rockwell. The evening’s events will also include a silent auction with items donated by many area businesses and individuals.
All the money raised will go for the purchase of equipment and programming for the new public radio station, which first went on the air earlier this month.
The music continues Saturday with the Music On Main event, which begins at 11 a.m. in downtown Poplar Bluff. Over 15 bands will be taking over two stages, with musical styles ranging from rock to country to blues and pop. Music will continue downtown through 7 p.m.
Among the bands scheduled to appear are Prosevere, Matt Stell, Scott Shipley, Kyle Richards, One Way Out, Tori Travers, Black River Blues Band, Alex Beaird Band, Black River Pearl, Cynderblok, Breaking Point, Buzzard Run, Chris Welch, Paragon, The Party, and Lauren Gray.
Also featured Saturday will the “16 Stars on Main” event sponsored by First Midwest Bank of Poplar Bluff. The winner will receive a trip for two to Nashville, and a $200 Visa cash card, courtesy of First Midwest Bank of Poplar Bluff.
There will also be a Kid Zone sponsored by Ozark Federal Credit Union, and a Bike Show sponsored by Bluff Powersports. Crafts, food, and drink vendors will also bed on hand.
Event sponsors include Budweiser, Dr. Yeoman’s Dermatology Office, El Acapulco Mexican Restaurant, Clear 94, Downtown Poplar Bluff, Z95 The Bone, KWOC, Three Rivers College, and Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. The event had originally been scheduled for May 16, and was rescheduled because of inclement weather.
Admission to the event is free.
Then the music theme continues as Bluff Burger and Brew, also known as Triple B’s, hosts its First Annual Burger Bash starting at 2 p.m. for the benefit of the Boys and Girls Club of Poplar Bluff. Featured will be “4 Years Apart”, DJ Dave and Atom Entertainment, and Lane Higgins.
That event will also include a Burger Cook Off from 2 to 3 p.m., and then a Bags Tournament beginning at 3 p.m.
