Music on Main was a hit!
So what is the verdict on this past weekend’s Music on Main event?
Well….the temperatures were hot, but so was the music.
“There were times when the street was so full, you could hardly walk through,” said event-organizer Randy Bailey. “The kids were having a blast in the Kids’ Zone, and folks gathered around for the Stars on Main Karaoke, and the two music stages looked and sounded great. We hosted a lot of very gifted local and regional bands.”
Bailey said the event brought together the perfect mix of culture, music and vendors.
Asked if weather hurt attendance, both from having to be rescheduled from its May date, and then Saturday’s hot and humid weather, Bailey said he didn’t think weather hurt at all.
“Actually, the flooding taking place probably helped, because a lot of our area campgrounds were closed because of the flooding on area rivers and lakes. That brought a lot of people to us who had intended to have a water weekend, but instead they came here,” explained Bailey. He added he wanted to thank all who made the day a success, including Poplar Bluff Downtown, Budweiser, El Acapulco, The Dermatology Office, Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, Three Rivers College, JR Rogets, Crawford Security and all those who attended.
“We definitely hope to do this thing again,” smiled Bailey. “It was a lot of fun and got out the message that we have great music here in Southeast Missouri.”
Performing Saturday were over 15 area bands, Prosevere, Matt Stell, Scott Shipley, Kyle Richards, One Way Out, Tori Travers, Black River Blues Band, Alex Beaird Band, Black River Pearl, Cynderblok, Breaking Point, Buzzard Run, Chris Welch, Paragon, The Party, and Lauren Gray.
