Angels for Angela Benefit scheduled
Angela Pearson is one of those people who unites a community like no one else.
As former mayor of Poplar Bluff, she was used to dealing with challenges.
But nothing could have prepared her for the challenge she now faces, with a diagnosis of melanoma cancer that has gone to several parts of her body.
Yes, admits Angela…this is a life-changing development. But she certainly is not going to flinch in the face of this challenge, no more than she has any challenge in her life.
Of course, a battle becomes more easily won with an army.
And Angela Pearson has an army of friends who are coming to her aid.
“Angels for Angela” is a benefit to be held Saturday May 23 at Poplar Bluff’s The Blue Moon. That event is the same day as the Sarah White UCAN Walk designed to raise money for UCAN. With the help UCAN has given Angela in her fight against cancer, it is the perfect day for the whole community to come together and attend both events, which will help Angela and countless other cancer patients and their families who need UCAN’s help in managing the many costs of cancer and the financial toll it takes on families.
The “Angels” benefit will begin at 3 p.m. and will include food, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, a DJ as entertainment, a dart tournament, and more.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun, and we will all be there together to support one of our favorite people in the whole world,” said Amber Richardson, organizer of the event.
The Dart Tournament will begin at 6 p.m., with sign-ups at 5 p.m., and a $10 entry fee.
Richardson is ecstatic over the number of people and businesses who have come forward to help with this event.
“It has just been amazing, and shows what deep affection people in this town have for Angela Pearson,” said Richardson.
