BYM Annual MLK Day Can Food Drive

Jan 11, 2015

keep-calm-and-carry-on-2The 5th Annual Bootheel Youth Museum Can Food Drive recognizes Martin Luther King, Jr.’s call to action, “What are you doing for others?” How about helping the community and getting a great day at Southeast Missouri’s Discovery Place! The Bootheel Youth Museum will be hosting a canned food drive 10:00am to 4:00pm on Martin Luther King Day Monday, January 19, 2015. There will be a science show in the BYM Children’s Theater at 2:30 p.m. Visitors who bring in any canned food or non-perishable food item will receive free admission to the museum all day on Martin Luther King Day. All food will be donated to local food pantries. Visitors can also bring in good condition coats, gloves and eye glasses. The coats and gloves will be sent to Hope International in Bernie, Missouri while the glasses will be donated to Malden Lions Club.

Join Punky the BYM Mad Scientist for a free science show in the BYM Children’s Theater at 2:30 p.m. Punky tells us the science show will include “A little bit of everything from chemistry to physics, anything from skewering a balloon to a Fire tornado.” During the science show guests will assist in some of the experiments.  It’s great fun for children of all ages.
