Spring Job Fair to be held April 9 at Three Rivers College

Apr 07, 2015

More than 50 employers will be taking applications at a Spring Job Fair to be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday, April 9, in the Bess Activity Center at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff.

The event is open to the public, and admission is free.

The Spring College Transfer and Job Fair is sponsored by the Parents Working Committee of the Community Resource Council and Three Rivers College.

“The Parents Working Committee holds a job fair each August, and we had employers suggest we also hold one in the spring,” said Teresa Johnson, chair of the Parents Working Committee and Director of Communications at Three Rivers. “Three Rivers for years has organized a spring college transfer and job fair for its students about to graduate. Employers there asked about opening that job fair to the public to increase applicants. So it was a natural fit for us to join forces.”

About 50 employers have signed up to have booths at the Job Fair.Job seekers will be able to fill out applications, talk to employers about jobs available, and drop off resumes.

The Parents Working Committee is one of the volunteer committees of the Butler County Community Resource Council. It works to connect parents with jobs by holding Job Fairs. The Committee also advocates for community transportation issues and supports the Missouri Reentry Process and job training.

Job training is also part of the mission of Three Rivers College. Three Rivers offers college transfer programs to get people started in fields that require a bachelor’s degree or higher and career-technical programs that provide training for area jobs like nursing, welding, industrial technology, medical billing and coding, business management, criminal justice and firefighting.
