Three Rivers to Host 3rd Annual Sarah White 5K

Sep 03, 2014

Three Rivers College will host the third annual Sarah White 5K Run Walk & Play on Saturday, September 6 at 4 p.m. at its Poplar Bluff Campus. The fund-raiser is being held in memory of Sarah White, who lost her battle with cancer but inspired others with her motto, “I Scare Cancer.”
“Sarah never let cancer stop her or slow her down, so this is a perfect way to honor her courage and her determination,” said Emily Parks, Executive Director of the Three Rivers Endowment Trust, which administers the Sarah White Memorial Scholarship. “We’d like to invite everyone who wants to make a difference in her name to come out, have fun, and help keep her scholarship going.”
Late registration begins at 3 p.m. in front of the Bess Activity Center on Three Rivers’ Poplar Bluff Campus. Entry is $15 for individual 5K, and $10 for the children’s 50- and 100-meter dashes. The entry fee includes a T-shirt, while supplies last.
Proceeds will fund an annual Three Rivers scholarship in Sarah White’s name allowing her legacy to live on. White’s battle with cancer was the epitome of facing fears, as evidenced by her skydiving with “I Scare Cancer” written on her helmet.
