Those who long to take a walk on the wild side will have that opportunity tomorrow night at the Sixth Annual Howling at the Moon event hosted by the Animal Welfare Alliance of Southeast Missouri. The event takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Westwood Center. Catering will be provided by Maya’s and “Thin Blue Line” will provide the entertainment. Sponsors for the event include Coffman & Company, Key Drugs, Hicks Animal Hospital, the Ripley County Veterinary Service, Budweiser, First Midwest Bank, Dental Arts Group, and Pack’s Do-It Center. Artfully Framed will be hosting its 8th Annual Christmas Open House this weekend. Owner Barbara Pelton says that many people have come to view her Open House as their official kick-off for the holiday season. “We have up to 200 people visit our store for this event,” said Pelton. Hours for this year’s event are 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov.7, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. Pelton said that a favorite feature of her event are her theme-decorated Christmas trees. “Most of our ornaments are hand-crafted from artisans from this area, and we have some from around the world,” she explained. JEFFERSON CITY – Following a tidal wave of support that saw Republicans take 118 of the 163 seats in the Missouri House of Representatives, members of the historic Republican Caucus met Wednesday afternoon to select state Rep. Todd Richardson to serve as Majority Floor Leader for the 98th General Assembly. Richardson will take on the duties of the position when the House convenes for the 2015 legislative session in January. He will replace state Rep. John J. Diehl, Jr., who was selected by the caucus to serve as the next Speaker of the House. Registration has begun for Spring semester classes at Three Rivers College, with openings available for new and returning students at all of the college’s locations. Online and on-site registration will continue through Jan. 9 at the Poplar Bluff campus and the centers in Sikeston, Dexter, Kennett, Malden, Willow Springs, Piedmont, and Cape Girardeau. The semester starts on Jan. 12. Those interested in enrolling can browse available courses by clicking “Search for Classes” at trcc.edu. Current students, with advisor approval, can register online through the myTRCC system. Prospective students must fill out a free application and attend a “ROCS” orientation session to be eligible to register for classes.
