  • The Mules Booster Club has named basketball standouts Kiley Bess and Willie Lucas Jr. of Poplar Bluff High School the Athletes of the Month for December. Willie, a senior, is currently averaging 20.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game with 85 percent from the free-throw line. His career total is 1,074 points, 511 rebounds, 114 blocks and free throws of 80 percent. Willie was named to the All-Tournament Team at the ShowDown during which he won the three-point contest. In the classroom, he maintains a 9.71 GPA. “Willie is a hard worker and is very determined,” basketball coach Will Durden stated. “Willie has had a very good career and will continue to get better.” Kiley has averaged 15.8

  • The Poplar Bluff Mules Booster Club has named high school softball player Shelby Sievers and football player Steven Haley the October Athletes of the Month. Haley, a senior, is only seven tackles short of the school record with 131. His stats include 21 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and two interceptions.   • JANUARY The Mules Booster Club named Cassidy Harris and Steven Haley of Poplar Bluff High School the January Athletes of the Month during a special presentation on Tuesday, March 24, in the Student Center. Haley, a state qualifier, ended his junior wrestling season with a 49-5 record. He was named the SEMO Conference champion.   • Poplar Bluff - The Poplar Bluff Mules Booster Club has selected Poplar Bluff High School Tennis star Stephanie Hobbs and Mules Football standout Steven Haley as the September Athletes of the Month. Haley, a junior, completed nine games with 113 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and three sacks. His cumulative GPA is 11.036 weighted.
