• The Brothers Walker are coming to Poplar Bluff's Historic Rodgers Theatre, Saturday, August 30, at 7 p.m. They are hoping for a great crowd, first, because they love their audiences, and second, because they will be doing a video shoot of the performance. Who comes to a Brothers Walker concert? Well...everyone. “That's what we love about our audience,” explained Coty. “We will see everyone out there in the crowd from grandparents, to children.” It's really like an extended family, agrees Clinton. That is important, because the Brothers Walker say family has everything to do with their music careers. When you ask them about their musical “career”, they really have a hard time pin-pointing when their career began. “We started at

  • Poplar Bluff, Mo. - When the nation's Veterans Affairs Health system came under fire because of a scandal that grew out of a Phoenix, Az., VA Hospital, U.S. Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill stepped to the forefront immediately to work to improve healthcare for U.S. Veterans. The scandal arose because veterans were not getting treatment soon enough, and because fraudulent records were being used to keep track of how long it was taking veterans to get the help they needed. The Puxico Homecoming story is a little bit like the Cinderella fairytale. Amazing things happen in a relatively short amount of time. And then with the stroke of midnight, everything goes back to as it was before. The main difference between the Puxico Homecoming and Cinderella is that Goat Burgers are really the star of the Puxico Homecoming story, and they are nowhere to be found in the Cinderella story. If you ask anyone in Puxico, that is what makes the Puxico Homecoming story infinitely better! Rudy Williams of the VFW Post

  • Poplar Bluff, Mo. - The Friends of the NRA held their 22nd Annual Fundraising Banquet Saturday at Poplar Bluff's Black River Coliseum. The event included social time and a live auction of several items. Over 90 guns were won in raffles or bought by attendees at the event. “Really, it is amazing that we
