• Three Rivers College has announced the hiring of Joseph Kenley as the Director of Three Rivers at Dexter. Kenley has previously worked for Three Rivers as an adjunct instructor at the Dexter location. He will replace Bill Hampton, who retired in June of 2016. “I sought this opportunity because I’d already seen the kind of opportunities the Dexter location provided for community members who wanted to advance their education, improve their careers,” said Kenley. “Three Rivers has a great team in Dexter, and I wanted to be more connected to them and their mission.” Kenley began teaching classes for Three Rivers as an adjunct in January 2016.   • More than 700 Poplar Bluff R-I certified and classified employees attended the district’s back-to-school convocation on Monday, Aug. 29, at the Black River Coliseum.   • During the month of July alone, there are more than 100 "World Series" going on in various age groups across the United States. The term "World Series" seems to have lost its meaning from overuse, except when it comes to Little League, Cal Ripkin and Babe Ruth organizations. What sets these organizations apart is that they pay all of the travel, lodging and meal expense for the teams who qualify for the World Series. This year, the Sr Babe Ruth World Series is held in Ephrata, Washington. The plane tickets alone from St Louis to Spokane cost over $500 per person.   • Three Rivers College has released its Dean’s List for the Spring 2016 semester. The honor is awarded to students taking 12 or more credit hours in a semester who achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or above. Dean’s List honors are also used at graduation to help determine eligibility for honors or highest honors.
