Dec 12,Currently, 4-H is looking for volunteers to lead summer programs from June-August in the following areas: cake decorating, beekeeping, horses, outdoor adventures, veterinary science and woodworking. Although we are looking for volunteers in these areas there is always room for other options! Plus, you do not have to be an expert to be a volunteer. 4-H has all the resources you could need! 4-H is the largest out-of-school youth organization in the world, and is open to all boys and girls, ages 5 to18. Children ages 5 to 7 years old (by Dec. 2015) are eligible for 4-H Clover Kids. Youth who are 5 to 18 years of age (by Dec. 2015) can choose from a variety of 4-H skills
Feb 19,Butler County 4-H is excited to start new a 4-H Shooting Sports Club that includes archery and rifle in Poplar Bluff. The goal of these projects is to teach safe and responsible use of shooting sports equipment, sound decision-making, self-discipline and concentration. 4-H Shooting Sports promote the highest standards of safety, sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Each shooting sports club is led by a certified 4-H Shooting Sports instructor who strives to make each meeting fun for the members by incorporating games and competition. Each youth must enroll in 4-H and complete 6 hours of safety instruction. The Shooting Sports safety training will be held on Thursday, May 28 from 6pm-9pm and Saturday, May 30 from 9am-12pm at the Poplar Bluff
May 15,On Wednesday, May 6 over 250 4th grade students from Qulin, Fisk, Neelyville, Sacred Heart and Malden schools came to Lake Wappapello’s Visitor’s Center for Ecology Day. Students attended 9 sessions learning about the Earth, resources, and the lake. The event was hosted by Stephanie Milner, 4-H Youth Development Specialist, with the University of Missouri Extension Butler County. Presenters came from the US Forest Service, US Army Corps of Engineers, University of Missouri Extension, and the Missouri Department of Conservation
May 07,LAKE WAPPAPELLO - 4-H/FFA Farm Safety Day was held at the Lake Wappapello Visitor’s Center on October 6, 2014. In attendance were over 400 students, staff and presenters from Poplar Bluff. Students learned about the importance of safety in both farming and everyday activities. The event was sponsored by Butler County 4-H with the University of Missouri Extension, Poplar Bluff FFA, Progressive Agriculture and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
