  • “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans,” an event to recognize the veterans of the Vietnam War, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 27, in the Bess Activity Center at Three Rivers College. The event is an early celebration of Vietnam Veterans Day, which is March 29. It sponsored by Chapter 1056 of Vietnam Veterans of America, an organization with the goals of campaigning on issues important to Vietnam veterans, creating a new identity for this generation of veterans, and improving public perception of Vietnam veterans.   • The Poplar Bluff City Council was forced into making a decision at Tuesday night’s council meeting on the issue of rezoning the property at the corner of Northwood Drive and Westmoore Drive. Jared Beaird, owner of the property had requested the rezoning to allow him to use the building as a dental practice. It was zoned residential, and the request was to rezone it as O-1, which would have allowed professional use of the property.
