Dec 12,USA Team marathon runner Josphat Boit Skyped with the Poplar Bluff High School Cross Country team on Thursday, Oct. 22, by way of Mammoth Lakes, Calif., where he is training at 8,000-feet elevation for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Mules Cross Country Head Coach Beth Lewis-Muse, who was teammates with Boit at Central Methodist University in Fayette, arranged for the video call to take place prior to the Cross Country District Championship over the weekend. Boit answered student questions about his training regimen, recovery, nutrition and psychology. Participants were asked what they would do with $50 to spread cheer throughout their school or community. Aug 26,The Mules Booster Club has selected Poplar Bluff High School Cross-Country standout Katie Sliger and Soccer star Jose Reyes as Athletes of the Month for November. Reyes, a senior, ended the Mules Soccer season with 359 saves, eight penalty kick saves and 10 shutouts. He was selected as goalie for the All-Regional, the All-Conference and All-District first team, and the All-State second team. Freshman Sliger was a Sectional qualifier and earned the sixth place All-District honor. Her personal record for the 5K is 20 minutes and 52 seconds. She maintains a 10.857 grade point average.
