Piedmont, Mo. - SEMO TIMES was contacted late Sunday night about an exceptional father-daughter duo from Piedmont who took third place in A-flight in the Piedmont Country Club tournament this weekend. Avery Green and her father, Jarred, scored 71 on the Saturday and 69 on Sunday for a score of 4-under par on the par-72 course. The tournament field of coed's was dominated by adults and the father-daughter pair appeared to the other competitors as just a darling twosome until the first day's scores were posted. The family reported that Avery's drive was used several times in the two-day event and her putter dropped a couple of putts. Jarred and mother, Kaylie, were extremely proud of Avery's performance. The FASA, Fastpitch American Softball Association, held its World Series in Branson this weekend for seven different age divisions. The 14U division (meaning 14 years of age and under) had nineteen teams from Missouri, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma who had qualified to be in this year's event. The SEMO Sluggers team, coached by Julie Sievers, was formed with players from East Carter, Poplar Bluff, Naylor, Senath, Paragould, Batesville and Doniphan. After winning seven straight games in the tournament, the SEMO Sluggers met the Benton, Ar, Thunder Elite in the championship game. SEMO Sluggers held strong and won the game 6-4. It was the 76th Annual Meeting of the membership of the Ozark Border Electric Cooperative. There was important business conducted, but it was not a typical a business meeting. It had an atmosphere of a family reunion or old time church meeting. Blue Grass music and gospel music filled the Bess Activities Center on the Three Rivers College Campus.
