Dignitaries included former Senate Chief of Staff Kit Crancer; state Sen. Doug Libla; chief of staff to president pro tem Sen. Tom Dempsey, Todd Scott; Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder; director of legislation for the Missouri Department of Health and former Senate legislative director, Ellie Glenn; and former president pro tem and current lobbyist for Stinson Leonard Street, Mike Gibbons.

POPLAR BLUFF - With the myriad of “challenges” and “paint-the-town” efforts, it’s clear that our country cares about fighting cancer and other diseases. Though the efforts and fundraisers take on many forms, Poplar Bluff’s Artfully Framed owner, Barbara Luke Pelton, has moved the Breast Cancer cause into the artistic realm. “We originally wanted to come up with a way to celebrate National Art and Framing Month, which falls in October,” explained Pelton. Then it occurred to her that October is also National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and she decided to combine the two. It was a nail-biter at Brick’s Offroad Park as 15 Big Trucks competed for the $10,000 “Winner Takes All” Prize in the Mud Truck Challenge. Winning the prize at the very last minute was Jonnie Manees of Dudley, MO, who made it through the infamous Brick’s Slough in just 4 minutes and 56 seconds. In his truck “Strictly Business.” Manees was the very last driver of the day to churn his way through the slough. It was an exciting win, coming after Ron Hoppe had managed to get through the slough twice in both trucks he had brought to the event, but his times could not beat Manees’. Trucks At Bricks POPLAR BLUFF -If you live in the vicinity of Brick’s Offroad Park in Butler County, that isn’t a series of earthquakes you are feeling tonight. It’s the big trucks arriving for Brick’s $10,000 Mud Truck Challenge.
