On 08-14-14 Butler County Coroner Jim Akers confirmed that the body found in the 1300 block of West Maud st in Poplar Bluff had been identified as that of Justin R Allen of Arlington Texas. Justin Allen had apparently been camped in the area for some time, as several people reported seeing him near the area where his body was found. Some of these witnesses described Allen as unusually thin; and said he seemed confused or disoriented. Examination of the scene and Justin Allen's body revealed no signs of struggle or violence. X-rays determined that there were no broken bones; results of the autopsy were inconclusive, and the cause and manner of death could not be determined. At this time, there is

Captain David Sutton released a press release at 17:23 today: On 08-11-14 at around 1545 hrs Officers with the Poplar Bluff Police Department responded to the 1300 block of West Maud st, in reference to a report that a body was found in a wooded area. The body was in an advanced stage of decomposition; and no cause of death was immediately apparent. Investigators with the Poplar Bluff Police Department, Butler County Coroner's Office, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control responded to process the scene.

When the Mini Coopers pulled out of Memphis earlier that day, over 450 vehicles were on the tour which began in San Francisco on July 26 and makes a jagged-route across the states to Boston by August 9. Aug 05,Poplar Bluff, Mo. - The Poplar Bluff City Council voted 5-2 to approve a one-year contract for City Manager with Heath Kaplan this evening. On Wednesday of last week, at a special session of the city council, members approved 7-0 to hire Mr. Kaplan. On Friday, the city issued a press release introducing their new city manager. Tonight's vote was whether to issue Kaplan a one-year contract laying out the duties, salary, termination procedures, benefits and allowances. Council members Betty Absheer and Ed Degaris voted no.
