On 01-24-15 at approximately 11:15 am, a female victim came to the Poplar Bluff Police Department to report Jewayne Shaw (her boyfriend) assaulted her and held her against her will, at gunpoint, in their residence in the 900 block of Cherry st overnight. The victim told Officers when Shaw fell asleep she fled the residence and came to the Police Department. The victim added that Shaw threatened to kill her if she went to the police; and threatened to kill the police if they tried to arrest him. State Sen. Doug Libla, R-Poplar Bluff, is urging citizens to attend an open hearing of the Missouri Public Service Commission in Dexter, Mo., on Jan. 26, at the Elks Lodge, 325 N. Two Mile Road, to provide testimony on an electric rate case filed by Ameren Missouri. Citizens will be given the opportunity to speak on the proposed rate increase. Last year, Ameren Missouri filed an electric rate case seeking to increase annual electric revenues by approximately $264 million, or 9.65 percent. The filing includes a request to continue its fuel adjustment clause that reflects changes in the cost of fuel used to generate electricity on customers’ bills through a separately-identified surcharge or credit outside a general rate case. “We
Jan 23,DUNKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPT - KENNETT, MO. At approximately 05:17 hours the Dunklin County Communications Center received a 911 call with reference to a disturbance on DD Highway in the Northern part of Dunklin County. Deputies responded to the scene and found that a disturbance had occurred and during the disturbance an individual was shot. The disturbance involved two relatives and resulted when a male subject entered the residence with a knife in a threatening manner. The male subject who resides at the dwelling shot the knife wielding subject. Jan 23,Ag Expo 2015 will be held January 30 and 31 at the Black River Coliseum in downtown Poplar Bluff. The 29th annual Ag Expo is excited about offering the tenth year of the Duck Calling Contest which will be held for both youth and adults. There are three divisions for competition: age 14 and under; 2-man meat competition; and mainstreet calling contest. The youth division is free and three winners will receive trophies. The 2-man division event will have an entry fee of $20 per team and the mainstreet calling contest will also be $20 per caller with 75% of the prize money going back to the winners. Jan 22,The MFA Oil Foundation, based in Columbia, has awarded a grant to the Three Rivers Endowment Trust, to be applied toward the cost of purchasing and mounting new TVs in an ITV classroom at the Sikeston Academic Building.
