Three Rivers College’s Music Department will host its Annual Music Technology Day on Nov. 13, 2014, in the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the college’s Poplar Bluff campus. The event will feature a day of music technology master classes for college, high school and junior high music students, followed by an evening concert by area jazz groups. “This annual event brings many area music students and top-notch educators to our campus to both improve and display their talents,” said William White, Band Director at Three Rivers College. “The evening concert in particular features some of the finest jazz performers in the region.” The concert is open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Tinnin Fine Arts

Three Rivers College’s Testing Services department now offers the MEGA test for students completing their four-year education degree. The test will replace the Praxis II exam for determining competency in areas of instruction. “We’re pleased to be partnering with Pearson Vue to offer this exam in Poplar Bluff,” said Diane Patterson, Testing Coordinator at Three Rivers. “Previously, students had to go to Cape Girardeau or Jonesboro to take the MEGA exam, so we feel like this is a great service for students in our region.” According to Patterson, the next test date will be offered in January, with test dates following in March, June, August, and October of each year. Nov 03,John L Squires White Male, 55 years old, 5”8” weighing 150 pounds with gray/brown hair and blue eyes, has absconded from Probation and Parole supervision. Squires currently is wanted on a no bond warrant for absconding. Squires is considered a sexual predator with violent tendencies. On 10-29-2014 John L Squires cut off his electronic ankle monitor and fled supervision while attending a doctors appointment in Poplar Bluff. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of John L Squires is encouraged to contact law enforcement.
Oct 29,The Three Rivers Endowment Trust has received a $770,000 donation following the sale of properties held in trust for late Piedmont resident James Adams. The majority of the donation will go towards Three Rivers College's proposed Sports Complex project, with the remainder going towards the Endowment Trust's upkeep and expenses. The donation was made by Sandy and Tony Chytla, with Sandy being one of Mildred and James Adams' two daughters. Chytla said that the donation helped honor her parents' wishes for the estate. Oct 27,Three Rivers College's Communications Department has won five "Medallion" awards for excellence in public relations from District 5 of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR). The department earned first place awards for the college's website, a promotional "Graduation Success Stories" video, and the college's monthly "President's Perspective" e-newsletter. It won third place awards for the 2013 Viewbook it produced for prospective students, and for custom-designed signage for the institution's College Store.
