• DUNKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPT - KENNETT, MO. At approximately 05:17 hours the Dunklin County Communications Center received a 911 call with reference to a disturbance on DD Highway in the Northern part of Dunklin County.  Deputies responded to the scene and found that a disturbance had occurred and during the disturbance an individual was shot.  The disturbance involved two relatives and resulted when a male subject entered the residence with a knife in a threatening manner.   The male subject who resides at the dwelling shot the knife wielding subject.  The gun shot victim was driven to the Campbell ambulance shed where he was pronounced dead by the Dunklin County Coroner James Powell.  The investigation is ongoing with the investigation being

  • Ag Expo 2015 will be held January 30 and 31 at the Black River Coliseum in downtown Poplar Bluff. The 29th annual Ag Expo is excited about offering the tenth year of the Duck Calling Contest which will be held for both youth and adults. There are three divisions for competition: age 14 and under; 2-man meat competition; and mainstreet calling contest. The youth division is free and three winners will receive trophies.   • The Three Rivers College Music Department will host the 24th annual Three Rivers College Jazz Band Festival on Feb. 12, 13 and 14 at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the Three Rivers’ Poplar Bluff campus. The festival includes free concerts at 7 p.m. each night, featuring junior high, high school and Three Rivers College jazz bands on Thursday, Feb. 12; Arkansas State University Jazz Ensemble on Friday, Feb. 13; and the 2015 All-District High School Jazz Band on Saturday, Feb. 14.
