• Cardinals: Schumaker Heading to Dodgers

    ST. LOUIS -- Unsure of how he fit into the Cardinals' 2013 plans, Skip Schumaker, along with his agent, met with general manager John Mozeliak shortly after the season ended and expressed a willingness to be traded before entering into the final year of his current two-year contract.

    The Cardinals found a trade partner with the Dodgers, and on Wednesday the two clubs announced a swap that will send Schumaker to Los Angeles and Minor League infielder Jake Lemmerman to St. Louis. Though reports of a pending deal surfaced Tuesday, an official announcement had to wait until after Schumaker underwent and passed the Dodgers' physical exam.

  • Becker Cleared Of Charges

    ST. LOUIS, MO — On Nov. 18, the ACLU of Eastern Missouri filed a suit against the City of Poplar Bluff for an unconstitutional ordinance regarding the distribution of handbills without a permit and advance written consent of the operators of each vehicle. The ACLU is representing Brian Becker, who feared arrest after distributing handbills opposing a local $20 million bond initiative for sewer upgrades.

  • Sad Day for SEMO.net

    Short version: our two-and-a-half-year battle with the City was dismissed today by the courts. The longer version goes: that a couple of weeks ago, I found out that my lawyer had lost his license and would not have it reinstated prior to today's hearing. He helped me secure another lawyer and all was well until a few days ago when the new lawyer stopped communicating with me.

  • That’s Four Days In A Row In The DAR…Pray For My Family

    Okay, first the second part of my headline: These past two years have taken a toll on my family and, yet, they are still standing firmly beside me in all of this. However, the past five days and the inflammatory storytelling in the DAR and the threat of being arrested on election day have taken a huge chunk out of all our courage.
