POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. – The SEMO Times, a name already familiar to many Southeast Missouri readers, is set to re-launch on July 31 in an effort to provide in-depth news and feature articles with online and print products aimed at filling a gap in news coverage that has existed in the region for years. A launch party to unveil the new web site and first edition of the new newspaper has been set for 6 p.m., July 31 at Las Margaritas in Poplar Bluff. The announcement comes on the heels of the completion of a merger between the SEMO Times, which is owned and published by former Poplar Bluff Mayor Scott Faughn, and SEMO.net, operated by C.E.O Brian Becker. Press Release - Mark your calendars for June 17th from 9am til evening to be just east of Williamsville at the Markham Springs Recreational Area for the 14th Annual Old Type Country Festival. Complete with Arts and Crafts, music and even hay rides. Markham Springs is set on the Black River in a scenic and historic recreation area in the southwestern corner of Missouri's Mark Twain National Forest. The area provides access to multiple trails and recreational opportunities. And on June 7th, it's even better with hundreds of kids and adults enjoying an old tyme country festival. I'm excited to announce that Poplar Bluff has opted to make a sweeping change to our city council today by electing at-large members Dr. Jack Rushin and David Johnson and Ward 5 member Peter Tinsley. All of them discussed wonderful ideas for helping keep the momentum of Poplar Bluff going and I look forward to what they will accomplish in the three year term. Celebrate Mardi Gras Fat SATURDAY and help raise money for "Just Within Reach". This evening of fun begins with a 3-course dinner served at 6pm by Poplar Bluff's premiere restaurant "The Wine Rack.".
